307490 2004-12-25 21:14:00 I think you might be interested in Dekart Logon (www.dekart.com) (if you don't mind paying a couple of dollars)

Dekart Logon - is a software program designed to add the strong
authentication and convenience to the standard Windows logon
procedure. It allows to access Windows driven computers and domains in
an easy, fast and secure way by using different types of hardware
keys. The login and password of the user are entered automatically
once the hardware key is connected to the computer. Users gain the
flexibility to select from different smart cards, hardware tokens, as
well as USB flash drives and other types of removable media to provide
fast and convenient two- or three-factor authentication within their
Windows environment

thewhiz,

The site says that it should work with most standard memory keys. The Dekart Forum (www.dekart.com) mentions using the Key formating utility (www.dekart.com) to prepare the key first.

Among other metheods fingerprints can be hacked with a drinking glass and super glue, FYI.

Edit

The IBM drivelock system password protects the drive, but the S/W to circumvent or rewrite the P/W is out there legally and pirate for a price.

Unless your trying to keep your sister out of your machine, your better looking at the enviroment security and a good P/W.

307496 2004-12-26 03:13:00 Well depends on how good the reader / software is Speedy Gonzales (78)
307497 2004-12-26 03:15:00 Apparently gummy bears work quite well on some readers also. :) Alpha (3520)
