2004-12-25 04:19:00 | I use WinMX, and find it very good. There are no queues, and it's fast. No spyware is an added bonus | Edward (31) | |
2004-12-25 04:22:00 | I used to use it heaps, online for days at a time, dialup is a problem as you lose your place in the que especially if you get dropped by your ISP for exceeding the 3 hour or whateva connectivity during busy periods. :horrified I still use it occasionaly and now with a broadband connection which allows faster downloads depending on the bandwidth available from the host pc As with all file sharing programs / communities you must/ should share files or you will be considered a leech and many will stop you downloading. :badpc: The scope of material is awesome and most things can be found. :D As per those that will say file sharing is illegal etc beware of sharing or downloading copyright material is this is what the music industry and their army of lawyers are targeting. In fact they are now seeding bogus files, renamed or corrupt files to discourage your attempts. :2cents:

2004-12-25 04:22:00 | I've used WinMX since the first release and I find it a very useful program. Only problem is that recently mine won't connect to the server - it just sits there saying 'connecting' I've tried disabling Norton firewall and windows firewall was already disabled - can't get it to work (it was working a while ago though, and I haven't changed any connection settings)

2004-12-25 05:21:00 | I used to use it heaps, online for days at a time, dialup is a problem as you lose your place in the que especially if you get dropped by your ISP for exceeding the 3 hour or whateva connectivity during busy periods. i knew it, i knew that this happens, but so far it hasnt happend to me on xtra flat rate, but i think this is why the companies such as slingshot have that hour limit, 6 hours i think it was, its in the t's and c's i think.

2004-12-25 07:18:00 | Thats cos the ISP's utilise port limiting / blocking to limit the traffic epescially during busy periods - the skool holidays definately apply . Some programs will allow you to connect using other ports which can be useful till your ISP catches on . . . .

2004-12-25 07:55:00 | for the winmx thing, when you open it, straight away hit stop, then refresh and connect again, this worked on dial up when it wouldnt connect. | Prescott (11) | |
