| 307882 | 2004-12-28 06:02:00 | What operating system do you have. Only XP comes with an inbuilt firewall otherwise you have to install a third party one. If you have XP, do you have SP2 installed? If a firewall has been installed by someone else, then you should see an icon for it in the systray next to the clock. If you hover your cursor over the icons, or double-click on them you should be able to identify if any are firewalls. ZoneAlarm, Nortons Internet Security, Nortons Personal Firewall, Agnitum Outpost, Keiro etc are all examples of different types of firewalls. Alternatively, you can look under the Start Menu for an entry or in Add/Remove found in the Control Panel. Do you use an external ADSL modem to connect to the internet? Some of these have inbuilt hardware firewalls which might of been activated. Xp. I have the firewall up but it isnt an installed one. And no external modem. Any ideas. By the way I connect to AOL instant messenger fine... |
