307626 2004-12-26 22:17:00 Does your machine support USB 2.0?? And if not is the drive backwards compatible with USB 1.1? Dak (6610)
307627 2004-12-27 01:58:00 sound more like it issue with the OS / source drive......

can you make a new word document and save it direct to the flash drive??

I have tried this - opened a new word doc,

A try and save it to the removabel drive (USB) and I get a box with:

'MICROSOFT WORD' in the top (blue bar) and the words

"The system cannot find the specified file OK"

Another box then appears saying

"The folder H:\ isn't accessable. The folder may be located in an unavailable location with a pasword or the file name contains an / or\" (it doesn't)

I can save the document OK to the hard drive etc.

Someone has suggest formatting the drive?

Can anyone tell me how I do that - I don't think I have? Tks

My machine is about 18mths old - It does have USB - I am sure of that and that it was 1.1 compatable.

Any suggestions - my Chrissie present is useless at the moment - most frustrating - Tks

307628 2004-12-27 02:10:00 That's a coincidence - on my XP Pro SP1 my USB drive works a treat, but on the other (now sold) machine with SP2 it had same problem - wouldn't recognise it at all.

May be worth looking at Microsoft's knowledgebase site to see if it's a known bug.

Right click on "My Computer" ... select "Manage" ... select "disk management" ... find your removeable drive and right click on it and format it.

Thanks for that - have now formatted the drive - but still unable to copy to it. Exact same message as before comes up. May to look at paying a professional to sort it out - ouch - expensive xmas present!
