308004 2004-12-27 08:03:00 Hey,

I have an old P2 400 Box, made by Packard Bell that I want to convert to an FTP server, running linux.

I have an 80gb hard drive that I tried adding into it, which wasn't detected, but thats no surprise, seeing as the bios chip says 1996.

Now I can't for the life of me find a string to google for for this bios, as I thought there might be the possibility of a bios update, that I could at least put a 20gb or so in (it seems to have the 8gb barrier).

Regards,

Ashley

ASh,

Maxtor ez bios, still obtainable will resolve this for you simply . (Little utility that fools bios about drive size)

There's other's, much simpler and safer than bios upgrade on older pieces .
