| 307970 | 2004-12-27 02:32:00 | I have had 2 mailer daemon etc, saying that an email i actually did send has not been picked up or retreived as it says . to known address's of mine . I have never received thse before, is this a usual occurance or a certain isp thing or a AVG thing? Cannot recal this happening before, so i take it that the isp is holding the mail and is getting over loaded or whatever? or just possibly deleted, bounced or otherwise? it says it will send out periodic updates if this email (more than one addy email) is not retreived . it is more than likely that the recipients are on holiday or other wise detained and cannot or have not picked up the mail . . . . :badpc: i have always thought that this daemon thingy is a bad thing to have incoming into the puter, and delete them, after reading them in mailwasher . . . . is this not the one in same then, am i likely to be thinking of another similar word, name? just me again . . . :p |

| 307971 | 2004-12-27 02:50:00 | i have always thought that this daemon thingy is a bad thing to have incoming into the puter, and delete them, after reading them in mailwasher.... is this not the one in same then, am i likely to be thinking of another similar word, name?A daemon is merely a process that performs certain tasks when called upon, and in this cause an ISP mail server daemon which automatically sends outs messsages to do with email delivery issues. Nothing per se to be worried about, except for being notified that something has gone wrong with your sent email. | Jen (38) | ||

| 307975 | 2004-12-27 05:16:00 | From www.avast.com Win32:Mydoom is a mass mailing and P2P worm. It also installs a backdoor trojan horse on an infected computer. The worm spreads by creating copies in the Kazaa-shared folders and by sending infected e-mails. It forges sender field in an email. It uses one of these items in the Subject field: "Error", "Hello", "Hi", "Mail Delivery System", "Mail Transaction Failed", "Server Report", "Status" or "Test". The attachment is 22528 bytes long and has one of extensions "bat", "cmd", "exe", "pif", "scr". The attachment might be compressed to zip file 22788 bytes long. The worm searches for mail addresses in the files with extensions "adb", "asp", "dbx", "htm", "php", "pl", "sht", "tbb", "txt" and "wab". The worm omits posting to some domains, mainly antiviral and software companies, universities and internet authorities. |

| 307977 | 2004-12-27 06:06:00 | No. Just pointing out that there are some real sickos out there who have nothing better to do with their time other than piss off folk like me off with their idiotic mail. Even though my ISP (Ihug) vets out most of this crap mail, I am still getting retuned emails. My AV programme (avast!) cleans them out anyway :) This one arrived yesterday: Dear user of ihug.co.nz, We have found that your account was used to send a large amount of unsolicited e-mail during the last week. We suspect that your computer was compromised and now runs a hidden proxy server. We recommend that you follow our instruction in order to keep your computer safe. Virtually yours, ihug.co.nz user support team. I phoned Ihug and was assured that they had not sent the email to me. |
