| 307872 | 2004-12-26 21:59:00 | Hey all, new here. Nice site. My problem is that for some reason, which is probably my younger brother messing with stuff, I can no longer log on to any thing other than my internet. Can't connect to MSN Messenger, or any games that have seperate servers, like an online game. I really need to connect to Messenger as this is how I communicate with one of my bosses who lives in Singapore. Could someone please help me! Thanks, Noir |

| 307875 | 2004-12-26 22:32:00 | Welcome to PressF1 Noir :) Take a look at your firewall rules. You may find that the ports required for MSN messenger and the gaming servers have been blocked. If you need to use MSN messenger urgently, try the web-based version of it here (http://webmessenger.msn.com/). |

| 307881 | 2004-12-28 04:53:00 | What operating system do you have. Only XP comes with an inbuilt firewall otherwise you have to install a third party one. If you have XP, do you have SP2 installed? If a firewall has been installed by someone else, then you should see an icon for it in the systray next to the clock. If you hover your cursor over the icons, or double-click on them you should be able to identify if any are firewalls. ZoneAlarm, Nortons Internet Security, Nortons Personal Firewall, Agnitum Outpost, Keiro etc are all examples of different types of firewalls. Alternatively, you can look under the Start Menu for an entry or in Add/Remove found in the Control Panel. Do you use an external ADSL modem to connect to the internet? Some of these have inbuilt hardware firewalls which might of been activated. |
