307789	2004-12-26 11:24:00	Hey, I'm transfering some files wirelessly onto my linux box, from a laptop in the same room as the ap connected with crossover cable to a hub (laptop is wireless, linux box hard wired) Anyways, i find myself only getting a maximum of 1500KB/s in actual transfer speeds, and this is with the laptop almost right next to the AP. I have no 2.4ghz phones, no microwave close, using channel 6 (non overlap, have also tried 1 and 11, as well as 3). I calculate 1500KB/s to be roughly 15mbit? I know one can never expect 54mbit? but I thought actual throughput would be closer to 25-30mbit? What are you guys/gals getting?	Ash M (46)
307790	2004-12-26 12:34:00	Yeah, most .11g cards max out around 32-34mbit in Real-World examples. I'll see if I can find a review I read a short while ago comparing about 8different cards, with and without WEP. Some were faster with WEP. Some were slower with WEP... But all sat around 32-34mbit. What is the range? What is the setting of the card speed (Auto? 54M?) Play around with the settings and try and tweak it, or look to investing a in a booster antennae for your AP! That transfer speed isn't closer to 1375KB/s is it? If so it is most likely connecting at 11, not 54Mbit.	george12 (7)

307793	2004-12-26 20:32:00	I suspect the card is connecting at 11Mbit. That transfer speed isn't closer to 1375KB/s is it? If so it is most likely connecting at 11, not 54Mbit. Yes it is closer to 1375, but the Access Point is set to G-Only mode, and I have bumped up the power output as well. Chill: Rates on both card and AP are set to Auto, but I'll give it a try. Using a B card, with the router set to B only seems to give around 2-3mbit Range: the card is right across the room from the AP, so less than 7 or 8 metres. Ash	Ash M (46)
