| 307328 | 2004-12-25 06:44:00 | I booted into Safe Mode as administrator, it didn't require a password. I created a password for the administrator. I then tried to login as administrator the normal way, but I received a message saying something like "unable to login because of account restrictions", or something similar to that. Would any be able to tell me why I now can't login as administrator? Cheers, |

| 307329 | 2004-12-25 06:46:00 | what do you mean "the normal way"? If you mean via normal startup, it's set not to allow doing so. | Edward (31) | ||

| 307331 | 2004-12-25 07:16:00 | Yeah, normal way as in normal startup. So when setting a password in(just for administrator?) Safe Mode, does not mean you can use this password to logon when trying to login the "normal way"? If so, why? |

If you can access the admin login from safemode but not from a normal boot then the admin account is must be disabled. Login the normal way with a user account with admin rights and enable the admin account from control panel\user accounts. The try and login with the admin account. If not luck post back. | berryb (99) | ||
| 307333 | 2004-12-26 00:30:00 | for the record, the account with the name "administrator" is not set to be logged into for normal login, when starting up normally. That's why you're getting that error. The reason is if someone gets into your computer, they can get full access easily. Also viruses can't run as the administrator account. | Edward (31) | ||
| 307334 | 2004-12-26 01:06:00 | Okay, cheers for the info, I'll create an account with admin rights. | Bazman (6587) | ||

Just hit ctrl-alt-del 3 times and you will get the old fashioned Win2k/NT login screen and you can then enter the user name administrator and the password and it should go straight in no problems. |
