1376992 2014-06-12 01:48:00 Hi guys.

I have a Panasonic CF-50 Toughbook, with 1 GB ram and XP.

As I have updated a Netbook, thats working well, but I've tried a few version on this Toughbbok and they all fail with the following message:-

Error: PAE is disabled on his Pentium M.
(PAE can potentially be enabled with kernel parameter.
"forcepae" - this is unsupported, may cause unknown
problems, and will taint the kernel)
This kernel required the following features not present on the CPU:
pae
Unable to boot-please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Ian

1376993 2014-06-12 02:10:00 What you need by the sounds of it is a distro that used 486 instead of 686.

Can't think of too many that support that off the top of my head. If you're willing to look away from a Ubuntu variant, but still keep it Debian based, I think Linux Mint Debian should work.

Ok, if downloaded and running Linux Mint, off DVD.

Trying to setup wireless and got a box that wants the SSID, I've done that.
Now wants the Mode, BSSID, Device MAC address and Cloned MAC address.
I'm at a loss with the last 3.
So can anyone help, please?
So so much easier setting up the netbook, all I had to was put in the password.

Hmm. Any chance of a screenshot? With LMDE I've never had to do that.

1376997 2014-06-12 04:50:00 I tried Mint on the netbook once from a flash drive. Because it doesnt have a dvd. It picked up the wireless straight way, I typed in the pw. That was it Speedy Gonzales (78)

Copy/Paste in Linux is the same as in Windows....or are you trying to take the screenshot? If the latter, the 'Prt Sc' key normally does the job.
