As if rare in NZ means anything.

The only reason this was even in the news was because there was a gun involved. Cars get stolen all the time, some more expensive that this one and nothing is mentioned.

1361321 2013-12-06 10:09:00 The only reason it got a mention on here was because the guy is 21 or so and the car is worth quite a bit of money, if it were a guy in his 50's nothing would be mentioned. It just seems like a bunch of old women gossiping about or as another poster has said, tall poppy syndrome.

All you have to do is a quick Wiki to see these cars are a bit special.

1361322 2013-12-06 10:10:00 Any vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. No Idea if the Cars been recovered or not, but you can reasonably sure the insurance wouldn't pay out as much as was spent on it.

I think you're missing the point, the only mods that car has are the wheels which are worth at best $3k with wheels and tyres. The car itself, in stock form will easily go for $50-$60k.. Its not whats been spent, its the actual market value.

Same as what makes a Lamborghini go for $200,000 or more, its not what was spent on it, its market value. Thats how insurance works, it replaces your items for market value. Most of the time anyway.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here?

I remember a guy walking into a dealership and driving off in an Aston Martin, mind you I think that was only reported due to the absurdity of the whole thing. Owner left the car running with the windows down unattended. >_<

Really ??

So is the actual article and owner telling BS ?
a Nissan R34 GT-R V-spec Model, was worth about $65,000 after the extensive modifications he had made. So is changing wheels and tyres considered extensive mods these days ?

NZ is a little village. Something being rare in our fair country doesn't make it exotic.

If being rare in NZ drives up the value of a shitty boy racer skyline then that is damn funny.

1361325 2013-12-08 20:16:00 Okay - time to make my first post .

Boy racer? if you ever met the owner of this car he is far from it, the car was immaculate . The last time i saw him he was parked up cleaning it . This is NOT a boy racer skyline .
This car does not rip the "mad as skids" it's 4wd twin turbo .

You can argue the value all you like . I work in insurance myself . The value of these cars is up in the 65k bracket . If you don't agree with it, go cry to your mother .

****in' Nerds .

1361327 2013-12-08 20:40:00 Its only worth what someone is willing to pay. I dont have a clue what its worth (a fair bit I suspect), but....

Heres what people are willing to pay for a GTR, not the same model but it gives some idea.....
