1361308 2013-12-03 23:09:00 Well it depends on the type of coverage he has doesn't it.

Not really. They cant pay out more than its actually worth, as legally you cant make a profit from an insurance claim like this.

1361311 2013-12-06 04:34:00 Holy **** most of you are clueless about what you're talking about, it is a $65k car, just because it isn't in your opinion, doesn't mean its a worthless pile of ****.

Here is an older model, a Skyline R32 GT-R (www.trademe.co.nz) going for nearly $30,000. They're different to the average Skyline, sounds like a lot of tall poppy syndrome in here with putting all the sarcastic remarks about insurance and HP.

I'm assuming the naysayers in this thread are generally over 30 because theres a fair amount of ignorance going on.

1361312 2013-12-06 08:07:00 Us ignorant people over 30 do understand the difference between an asking price and a sale price.

I'm happy to see something that demonstrates his car had a market value of 65K, Sadly my ignorance stops me from taking a different car with a different asking price as legitimate evidence of anything apart from someone else, selling something different, for a sum no way related to the car originally discussed.

For the record, That 27k car on trademe looks to me like a worthless pile of ****, I'd rather have the wifes Skyline we sold for 2K.

Ya got to remember metla, they have to have something to gloat about, Over Pricing a car, modifying it, trying to look cool and show off to the opposite sex -- They're not called little dicks for nothing -- The cars all they got ;)

There are no GTR R34's for sale on trademe, incredibly rare car in NZ but generally will go for $40-$50k on average, V-Spec will fetch $65k for a tidy example. I know because I usually keep a lazy eye out Skylines and see them now and then.

I don't modify my car to show off to anyone, I believe thats the stance crowd. I take mine to the track for personal enjoyment, granted majority of typical NZ boyracers do have little dick syndrome, but there are genuine enthusiasts who are there for the cars, not to drink piss and make dicks of themselves.

No point generalising like that, I realise I did with my over-30 comment, theres probably a few on here who know their cars. But I don't go calling PC guys a bunch of basement dwellers, I work in I.T myself so stereotypes don't work. (Unless you're the usual skidda boyracer)

1361315 2013-12-06 09:32:00 No way in the age group of boy racers, my sons closer to that age. Years ago I did all the car mods myself.

As so many have already said, just because a person spends a certain amount of money on modifying a vehicle doesn't make it worth that much. Ask the insurance company how much they would pay out on the vehicle -- Thats closer to what it would be actually worth. If you spent 100K on your house improvements, its unlikely it would increase its value by that much.

No, but good luck getting an R34 GTR V-Spec for under $50k unless it's damaged. The last one I saw sold for $58k.

Any vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. No Idea if the Cars been recovered or not, but you can reasonably sure the insurance wouldn't pay out as much as was spent on it. wainuitech (129)
