| 1376458 | 2014-06-04 20:27:00 | I have 2 external HDDs. One comes with me each day. One stays here, but unplugged. I have an image of C:, stored on all 3 drives. D: is where files etc are stored, and that is backed up at least weekly using free Syncback. That way it just backs up any new files or changed ones. All 3 drives have the lot..... |

| 1376459 | 2014-06-05 03:11:00 | Theres certainly a good assortment of backups available. The REAL test is when its actually needed. Take a bad case scenario -- Your computer fries, destroys everything inside, including the HDD, OR you go to use it and the HDD has totally failed - Everything is gone. How long would it take to get everything back exactly how it was before the event ? Had a HDD fail a couple of times -- Everything went :yuck: :horrified-- Swear a bit, as it always happens when you dont need it :xmouth: throw in a new drive,up and going EXACTLY as before, all programs, data etc within an hour :) ( less if theres not a lot of data) True - Only back whats relevant, critical or somewhat useful. I still have dozens of files on G drive which I don't really need but am slowly deleting. I now reverted to manual file transfers to usb drives. This includes pdf's of urls for possible future references, rather than having screeds of their bookmarks. Do have backup images, but not tested them. Be good to quickly back up or index and tag Youtube url's from the web somehow say to G drive (like attachments from Gmail), without book marking dozens of vids, or bothering to download them. |
