| 1376445 | 2014-06-08 06:30:00 | re why people post bad reports - they simply twits. As I mentioned earlier the comment was it was useless, tested on a 1TB HDD almost full. I challenge anyone to download, install, register and test a full 1TB HDD in under one minute. BS !!! cant be done. The reason chkdsk wasn't mentioned as a fixable option, as 1101 pointed out, * DO NOT run a surface scan or chksdk * , that can make things worse. I've personally seen the exact opposite happen to what yours did - it caused even more damage. Most here are not going to suggest something that WILL cause a problem. If a warning is ignored then its the persons own fault it it all turns pear shaped, and cant go blaming anyone else but them selves ;) Lastly -- run CrystalDiskInfo (crystalmark.info) on the drive, that will give you a good idea as to its state. |

| 1376446 | 2014-06-09 03:28:00 | I've had a few HDDs in the past die on me slowly and those are the ones I use data recovery programs for while I still could. But in this case, no files were actually corrupted, they were either visible and working fine or disappeared and inaccessible, so it seemed like a file system problem so I took the risk with CHKDSK. I'll give crystaldiskinfo a go. thanks for all the help either way, appreciate it. |
