1362296 2013-12-11 17:57:00 What about a retired older couple. We have friends who do this after school each day for a couple of hours.

Why OSCAR? There are loads of other daycare options.

Schools often have an after school care thing...
Talk to the neighbours, other options are going to one of them, or kids friends parents, they usually charge way less than minimum wage for that sort of thing.

1362299 2013-12-11 21:02:00 Good luck, my Sister is raising her grandchildren and had similar problems. She was basically told to quit her Job and go on a benefit because as a Grandmother she didn't qualify as a solo parent and couldn't get childcare assisatance for the same period you are looking for. She eventually sorted it out but it's been a struggle.

It'd be a good Job for a reliable teenager if such a thing exists.

How about the partner that earns the least goes part time instead.

It is a option we are investigating, it would destroy her chances of promotion and she has been working hard towards that.....

1362303 2013-12-13 18:38:00 Well, you know, you want a career, then have one, you want kids......someone has to be the one to stay with him - unless you all earn enough to pay whatever..... pctek (84)
