1376354 2014-06-03 00:45:00 Hi All.

Mainly curiosity.

I have read somewhere that it is possible to configure W8 as XP. Is this correct? I would like to look.

I Getting used to W8 slowly, trial & error. It is taking a bit of getting used to. I will not be going back. I feel that XP is more "interesting", W8 seems spartan to me. I also feel that things have been changed in W8 for the sake of change & being different. However...don't yell at me.:horrified

Another thing... the speed of this ASUS is fantastic. The screen is brighter, easier to read. Had to make the pointer bigger & slow it down. Very happy with it.;)

1376359 2014-06-03 22:55:00 You'll still have Windows 8. Classicshell just gives you a menu like XP. It wont change anything else back to XP Speedy Gonzales (78)
1376360 2014-06-04 03:51:00 I install it for people who can't handle the new start screen but I don't use it personally. You can chose whether it uses a windows classic style menu like XP or a more modern one like 7 and a few other options as well.

For our work laptops one of the techs installed XP on a virtual machine as well so he could run older legacy software, not something I've done myself as I prefer to abandon the older OS's but I know there are people on this forum that can help if you want to give that a go. Seems to give you the best of both worlds.
