1480273 2021-09-03 23:55:00 That's outdated, Marble Machine X is all the go now, or not go more to the point. A bit like Windows 10 or 11, it is a continuing accumulation of complexity where the system has long since overwhelmed the original raison d'etre.
The Music Machine has the Machine overwhelming the Music in importance, the so-called Operating System requires ever more hardware to run the system, and software is just an afterthought. Fortunately, computers have other OS's to satisfy users, and Music always has the Bagpipes for those who don't like machines (or music ;) )
Google "Animusic Pipe Dreams" to see the inspiration for the marble machine, then Google "Quck Dirty Operating System" for the beginnings of Windows.

1480274 2021-09-04 22:10:00 I think that it's quite amazing, although I wonder why someone would spend what I would think was much time and trouble going to those lengths building a machine to just play a tune.

That's not taking anything away from it - it's quite an achievement - but I just wonder if all that genius could have been used for something more useful.

But unlike the machine, the piano requires someone to play it. Quite a difference,
