1479350 2021-08-13 03:49:00 Was thinking of taking a 1 week holiday somewhere in the country (thanks covid). Any suggestions? Some where peaceful and quiet would be nice, doesn't have to be flash.

Cheers

But that's coz I like cold & snow. Normal people may not.

That's a great suggestion actually, haven't been up to Ruapehu in years and last time I went up it was flooded with tourists.... Cheers bud

1479354 2021-08-13 05:28:00 Quiet and peaceful? The Caitlins. Wild, windswept and empty of people. piroska (17583)
1479355 2021-08-13 06:44:00 Hanmer Springs come during the week and not in school holidays and you will only meet locals, there are only 1000 of us who live here so its very quiet most of the time. gary67 (56)

I went up for a day trip last winter. Getting up the mountain from the bottom was like rush-hour. I gave up getting to the top and parked on the side and played in the snow like a 6 year-old.

Kinda put me off going this year as well, but I like the whole wider area, including Ohakune and up to Taupo.

1479357 2021-08-13 07:37:00 I would recommend that when you are in South Taranaki, be certain to visit the Tawhiti Museum - not the usual museum. We were there an entire day and did not see everything. We are going to go there again next time we are down there. The small models are fantastic in their detail. Highly recommended.:clap Roscoe (6288)
