| 1480365 | 2021-09-09 22:36:00 | Don't forget he was starting from scratch so had to buy all the equipment up front which dented his profit margin. equipment is ASSETS (not an expense) , and that has no great relevance to profits (apart from any interest on loans to buy them). Some of his issues would have been mistakes made in his 1st year of operation as he works out what makes money & what doesnt . Its not just him, from what they were saying on the last episode, farming in general is becoming uneconomic in England . And all the subsidies UK farmers get will be reduced or eliminated as time goes on. It must be getting that way in NZ for new farmers , mainly due to the the cost of buying a farm ? . |

Yes, this is the reason for the shortage of young NZ farmers - who wants to be a manager on some one else's farm? Oh, but there is plenty of Asians who are happy to come here and farm, if only the government would let them in . |

| 1480370 | 2021-10-10 18:50:00 | Just finished watching all 8 episodes - Watching from the beginning its quite good really and shows just how out of his comfort zone he is, BUT at least gives it a damn good try, really shows all the troubles they have. As one of the comments on several reviews state He has done more to educate the public about farming than anyone else ever.. The looks on his face when ever he has to talk with Gerald is priceless, no one can under stand what hes saying, just nods and agrees LOL |
