I may be but and?
Look at todays popularity list. Even worse.

The old stuff I preferred was things like Queen, Bowie and such.
Don't listen to much now but more techno....

And I care not whether it's popular or not.

1479609 2021-08-18 22:08:00 never understood the fuss, boring music.

Many of their songs are pretty awefull, infantile .
They do have some very good songs , not the ones you usually hear.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band : one of the most overhyped albums ever . I never liked it and was a disappointment when I finally got to hear it many years back.
Revolver : still one of my favorite albums
Get Back, great album made when the band was on its last legs with infighting between the 4.
White Album. A horroid mix of the best and worst of songs

You will never say that you dislike them again :)

Emphatically agree! I love listening to their albums in stereo in my headphones. I listen often and never tire.

1479613 2021-08-19 11:31:00 Great stuff ,Roscoe thanks for the link. As trend setters e.g. All you Need is Love had a very long repetitive ending . Copied by Simon and Garfunkel-The Boxer.
I heard an interview with Ringo where he met Joe Walsh. Joe Walsh (lead guitarist of The eagles) had been extremely frustrated trying to emulate the guitar playing in And Your Bird Can Sing (Revolver) -my favourite Beatles track-. He eventually got close and Ringo explained to him -"but we did it with 2 guitars".
I remember ,also , in early days looking at the music sheets for songs on the album A Hard Day's Night. Sounded simple but there were many very difficult chords (majors and minors )that i had never heard of -my fingers certainly could not match them

If you can lay hands on it I can recommend the DVD Beatles Anthology.

1479614 2021-08-19 11:42:00 I used to have a Beatles song book for guitar chords for most if not all of their early songs, I got it from a shop in Rhodesia I think, I used to love playing or trying to play the complicated chords they used from instructions in the book, later on in a mad moment I lent it to someone, didn't realize it had not come back and now I have no idea who took it.

Same thing happened with my Scientific American book on the Universe and also on on Mathematics, who knows where they went. So annoying.

t would seem our taste for music is very similar Neil. :)

I must try and find my old mate referred to in post #10 and tell him Joe Walsh couldn’t work the Beetles cords out either. ;)

He will either be greatly relieved, or, snarl that he worked them out and zqwerty lost the book. (Post #17). If it was me zqwerty I’d be inconsolable loosing books like that. :crying

Anyway, passing thought, Simon & Garfunkel’s concert in New York Central Park, who the hell would want to be the Sound Engineer?
