| 1476111 | 2021-04-12 08:29:00 | Acronis can be a bit of a bugger I have found! Acronis Disk doctor for one (if you use it) doesn't seem to like large disks. When working with Win10 and Acronis True Image, you need to work out if it wants MBR or GPT. If GPT you need to use the 64bit program (as far as I can work out). |

| 1476112 | 2021-04-12 22:40:00 | One thing I noticed after I had installed Win 10 was that in the BIOS the Advanced Peripherals was set to IDE (the default) rather than AHCI. I read somewhere that that you should use AHCI for modern OS and SSD. I changed the BIOS to AHCI and it runs but boots rather slowly compared to IDE. Does it have to be AHCI or can I put it back to IDE?? | paulw (1826) | ||
| 1476113 | 2021-04-12 23:20:00 | AHCI is supposedly faster for SSD . this could be wrong (below) You can shift from AHCI to IDE by using regedit.exe to edit HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\service s\picide .One of the values needs to be changed from 3 to 0 to enable the driver pciide.sys . Likewise, to shift from IDE to AHCI you need to shift value of MSahci.sys from 3 to zero. |
