Will be trying your suggestions today ... never gave CMOS a thought. Haven't played around with computers for quite a while and "senior moments" have been increasing in frequency !!

1475815 2021-03-25 23:23:00 Just adding to what others have suggested - the Linux Live DVD --- simple way to test, take the side of the case and disconnect the Hard Drive, this removes the Operating system completely, the Linux Live DVD will still boot and load into memory, If there's no HDD attached it should run through its boot options and select the DVD, if the USB ports are working then its the OS in some way.

IF its still not detecting, take a flash light and look into each and every USB Port to make sure none are damaged. All it takes is one to have the locating tab missing OR a damaged port (pins) and if they are bent or touching they can cause a short circuit and disable them all. Check each rear and front port.

You can actually do the 2nd suggestion 1st if you want, look at the ports to confirm they are not damaged.

If it works at that level it wont be a hardware fault.

Can you attach a old style PS2 keyboard & mouse ?

Unplug the front USB connector from the mb , check the rear USB connectors for damage
Try a different USB kb & mouse

A HARD POWER RESET of Windows ? when win is running, push & hold power botton , to try & force a hard power off , rather than a hybernate/quick start

Not point suggesting possible fixes in win, since kb/mouse dont work in win.
