2004-12-27 12:15:00 | I have installed AVG7 with latest upgrade on my winxp computer running zonealarm pro. Even with mailsafe disabled I cannot get to my e-mail. As soon as I shut down ZA all is well. I also do not have the e-mail dialogue box in AVG7 for configuring e-mail scanning. On my work computr running Win ME all appears to be working fine with ZA Pro running as well. What's going on?

If you type AVG 7 conflicts into Google you will see that it affects a lot of people. You may get some ideas from other peoples experiences. I dont get any problem using Kerio Personal Firewall + AVG 7+Foxmail email client and Win XP Pro. Maybe you just have to sacrfice a program. |

2004-12-27 21:13:00 | I've reported this problem at PF1 when I first installed AVG7. I originally bypassed the problem by putting my ISP email server address in AVG as a trusted zone. Try that. btw - you haven't accidently set ZoneAlarm to block your email program did you?

2004-12-28 00:07:00 | My ZA settings allow all avg components through, and I have just discovered that I can get at my e-mails if I change the firewall settings from high to medium. But I still can't configure my avg e-mail scanner. Anyone had that problem? I have 5 buttons in the control centre for database, scheduler, shell extension, update manager and virus vault, but no e-mail scanner. avgemc is running and I get the pop-ups when I check for e-mail. Any further ideas?

2004-12-28 01:27:00 | After I installed the new AVG ZA personal kept asking if I wanted to have AVG as a "proxy server". I didn't really understand what that's all about so I clicked no. Then in Outlook Express I discovered I could recieve emails but not send them, OE lept coming up with error messages. So the next time ZA came up with the query about using AVG as a proxy I clicked yes and e'thing works fine now. Just my experience. HTH :) :stare:
