308145 2004-12-28 03:11:00 So I've been moaning bout winamp going slow right?

Well, I got EAC, excellent program it is, but it only rips at 5x!!

So then I decided to go back to gluggy windows-xp-ish musicmatch (which I didn't really want to do) and try ripping from there cos I usually get like 16x from it...

However i only ever get a max of 6x at the start after which it drops to 4.5x :groan:

Anyone know whats up with this?

I have nero installed and I tried using drivespeed (it was set to 8x) to put it to max but that didn't either... is there any other part of nero that would screw with this?

I heard it does screwy things....

308146 2004-12-28 03:24:00 Is DMA on, on the cd you're ripping from?? Whats it say under configuration when u run Nero Infotool?? Look under the IDE/s where it says primary/secondary DMA is under it. And how fast is the cdrom thats installed??

Drivespeed tests the speed of cds/dvd's not change the speed for things like ripping cd's.

308147 2004-12-28 04:10:00 Doesn't EAC only rip into a lossless format? If so that's maybe the reason it won't go faster. Greg (193)

308149 2004-12-28 07:26:00 it could be going very slow if its hitting a lot of errors. could be the cd drive failing, driver problem, or software issue. tweak'e (69)
