309619 2005-01-02 00:29:00 I have been infected by the above Trojan Horse that has gained control of my homepage. Acer Lc2303 Laptop, Xp Home, SP2. AVG all upto date has found it twice and removes it but it is still present. Have run Spybot, Adaware
Reg scrubber & CC Cleaner in desparation but no improvement.

Regards Stuart

309622 2005-01-02 04:35:00 Note,if XP,and if it mentions "restore" in the path to the trojan, then that means the trojan is locked up in a restore point.
Just a case of turning off restore, then turn it back on again. ( right-click "My Computer" and choose "Properties" from the menu. Then click on "System Restore" tab, and put a tick in the box marked " Turn off system restore on all drives" . Reverse the procedure to remove the tick to turn restore back on.)

309623 2005-01-08 20:28:00 Hi there i wonder if anyone can help me.
I to have had the above mentioned Trojan which was found by AVG and was then healed.
But i am having other problems which i don't know if they are related with the above Trojan.
1) Firstly my home page seems to by hijacked as every time i change it back to my desired home page it just changes every time i reboot.
2) In my add/remove programs it says i have a program called "search assistant utility" but after deleting i check back later to find that it is back again.
3) I can get on the net but once i start browsing i am getting porn pop ups offering all sorts. This is a major problem as my daughter wants to go on line but i won't let her until its gone.
4) I am using Z.Alarm(which is normally very good at stopping the porn etc).
5) I have tried Spybot, noadware,Trojan Hunter, adaware, avg etc but can't seem to shift these problems.
Does anyone know what i can do as i am thinking about refomatting
my hard drive. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:
Thanks for any help given.

309627 2005-01-08 21:53:00 First, if not done, run Ccleaner with all boxes ticked apart from the one that mentions " Autocomplete".

Next, download and run CWSHredder ( www.majorgeeks.com ) First do the scan, then run FIX , even if nothing found on the scan.

Also, if possible, can you tell us which homepage it is forcing you to go to ?
And your Windows flavour too, 95,98,ME,2K,XP?

I see this mentioned often, when you say 'all boxes ticked' does that include the Advanced section?
