If you still want Socket A stuff at least go with NForce 2.

More ram might be good if you can afford it, and the NForce2 seem to run the best from memory....with the KT800 the next best?

309389 2005-01-01 09:41:00 The cpu can always be upgraded. but thats for ur guys opinions, ill have a good think about it and even look around a bit more, what i was after is a decent system to start off with, with a decent motherboard so i can upgrade it bit by bit :D Rpg_pro (5689)
309390 2005-01-01 09:48:00 My current System

Dual p3 1ghz
4x 512mb ram
80 GB hd
40 GB hd
radeon 9250
Dual layerd DVD Burner

This should be really used a server, so i will be selling it once i figure out what to get i was told i should be able to get a decent ammont of money for it. Im not using the GF in this because it doesnt run very well as the agp runs at 2x.

Socket A is dead, The semprons in that range will cease to be produced in the next few months, and production of the Athlon socket A's has already happened.

Its good cheap gear but not if your looking at upgrading ,by the time you want a new cpu you will be up for a new mobo as well, And probally by then there won't be boards available with AGP slots, so your video card will be of no use.

Taking into account you seem to be aiming low for budget, I suggest a Socket 754 board and either a 66 bit 3000+ cpu,or sempron 3100+ cpu.

I never knew 66 bit was out, or even in development?!

Cant they only be a power of 2? Speaking of which, how long do you think it will be before we get CPUs in the kbits?

Jks. I would agree with that advice, that's why I'm totally skipping Socket A and going straight from a 478 intel to a Socket 754 or 939 64-bit system.
