309611 2005-01-01 22:17:00 Hi all
A friend brought round Star Trek Hidden Evil to try on my computer as it wouldn't install on his. Tried it on mine - no good either. Will start up install wizard but when I try to install it throw up the following error:

AppName: _ins5576._mp AppVer: 5.53.168.0 ModName: getinfo.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00004343

The cd was purchased on trademe and my mate suspects that it has been imported from UK. Will this be the the problem i.e. will it be zoned. CD is in good condition with no scratches. The trademe source is also trusted. If this is a zone issue, can we get round it.

Cheers
Craig.

309615 2005-01-01 22:50:00 hmmm......That game is old, designed for Win 95/98, I'm not real surprised it has issues trying to run on modern software and hardware,

You could try right clicking the install exe and changing the compatability setting to win98.

309616 2005-01-01 22:58:00 Yeah some games have major issues with the step up to 2K/XP unfortunately...

DOS games are even worse to get going - the sound is always the problem - bridging/emulation programs are available which use DirectX but I have found MIDI and SB16 emulation slow as... Duke3D and Doom/Doom II would be good to play again...

I am getting Starcraft soon as I have always wanted it - apparently that works ok...
