310205 2005-01-03 10:11:00 I've been doing a bit of Podcasting downloading Leo Laporte's Tech Guy show on KFI (see www.leoville.tv)

I've tried the Evil Genius Chronicles and Jimmy Jett, but would be interested to know if anyone has discovered any other good Podcasts on tech related subjects in particular.

I'm using Doppler version 2 which seems pretty good and downloading to Windows Media Player. Feedback on any other software used for Podcasting would be good.

310208 2005-01-04 11:19:00 Some call it "TiVo for radio" - it's basically the act of downloading an MP3 of what would normally be a radio broadcast so that you can listen to it at a later stage or whenever you like.

I don't think it's that good, although I do quite like the songs on Aurgasm. It's also a ridiculous name, because this sort of thing has been done for ages and not been called anything special.

If you ask me, someone thought they'd be smart and use a stupid term; it's overhyped and a victim of popularisation.

310209 2005-01-04 20:31:00 Yes well granted it isn't the best name in the world - I don't own an ipod and have no intention of ever getting one . However, it is a very useful way of downloading internet radio shows that I listen to anyway like the Tech Guy .

I think the term was coined by Adam Curry who happens to have an ipod and wanted to broadcast over the internet his "radio show", the Daily Source Code . . curry . com/ . " target="_blank">live . curry . com Like it or not the term seems to have stuck although Chris Pirillo (ex Tech TV) has just released an "podcast" ranting about changing the name to something else . pirillo . com/blog/_archives/2004/10/12/158729 . html" target="_blank">chris . pirillo . com . If you have a better name add it to the suggestions on his web site .

There are now over 1000 podcasts in a similar vein and they can be pretty entertaining, and to write off them as over- hyped is a bit like saying TV is over rated . However on a dial up it can be pretty difficult to suss out the goods ones as it takes a while to download a show .

Tech guy by the way should be high on the list for people who come to this site and if you haven't at least given it a listen, tune into Leo on KFI AM ( . kfi640 . com/main . html" target="_blank">www . kfi640 . com) every Sunday and Monday from 9am to noon live (New Zealand time), or download the Mp3's from www . leoville . tv or podcast it from the link on the site . Anyone who was a fan of the old Screensavers on Tech TV will enjoy this for sure .

I use Doppler which you can get from . dopplerradio . net/ but there are lots of alternatives out there . To get an idea what podcasts you can get, have a look at http://www . podcasting . net/" target="_blank">www . dopplerradio . net/ but there are lots of alternatives out there . To get an idea what podcasts you can get, have a look at http: . As you will see, there are over a hundred tech related shows alone .

If anyone is listening to a good tech related radio show or podcast out there, I'd still like to hear about it . Otherwise I'll gradually work my way through the list on this site .
