310152 2005-01-03 06:55:00 Whenever i use the floppy drive for either reading, writing or trying to format a disc, the system locks up after a couple of seconds & needs rebooting to get things going again. The drive works normally in safe mode & with Linux. I know it's nothing to do with sp2 as it did it before I wiped the drive & did a clean xp install a little while ago.

Any Ideas

win xp sp2 fully updated

310153 2005-01-03 07:00:00 You don't have your Antivirus software monitoring the floppy drive and being a bit too keen about it? Also have a look at Admin Tools > Event logs for any entries around the time of the lock up. Jen (38)

It seems to freeze up much quicker with a unformatted disc.
