| 310607 | 2005-01-04 08:30:00 | I let WMP update itself, and upon restarting, I get the message that "You must now activate windows". I take it this is not normal? (I installed XP Home using someone elses disk, then used a Product Activation hack. PLEASE don't bag me for "piracy", I'm looking for some sincere help here. you are not microsoft.) I thought of buying a copy of XP, but it won't even let me activate, if I click 'yes' at the prompt, it just gets to my desktop and logs out. It looks like I need to back up what I have on my C: (just documents and program settings, all the bulk storage of installs and music is on the D:) How can I back up what I need from a DOS prompt or similar? any programs that would help? Although I didn't use system restore, just out of curiosity and for the future, is it possible to restore from a restore point from outside windows? Help would be apprecciated! |
