| 310846 | 2005-01-05 07:04:00 | Hi I am using outlook express6 and windows XP-pro. The problems I am having is that outlook express now takes a very long time to load (IE> I can go make a coffee and come back and sometimes it still hasn't loaded). I have AVG 7.0 anti virus that is up to date and also have run AD-aware to check for spyware, also up to date. Does anyone out there know how I can fix this problem? Also if this can't be fixed what is the best way to backup all my messages if I have to reinstall WindowsXP. P.S My system is a AMD- athlonXP2200 and have 1gig of ram. |

| 310847 | 2005-01-05 07:09:00 | Welcome to PressF1! I had a mate with this problem also. After googl'ing for hours I suggested he switch to Mozilla Thunderbird. Not only did the load times drop down to a few seconds, but he also then had integrated SPAM filtering. It imported the mail and settings seamlessly :) Chill. |

| 310848 | 2005-01-05 07:11:00 | It could be an ISP prob... Not necessarily you.... Does the website you go to, take a long time to load as well? Do any errors appear when u try and check your email?? |

OE is a program, not a webpage - the ISP doesn't affect how long it takes to load a program... If the emails were taking a very long time then that could be an ISP issue, but not the length of time it takes to load a program... Mike. |

| 310850 | 2005-01-05 07:24:00 | Try disabling "Instant Messaging" under OE Tools > Options and remove the tick from beside it. See if this makes a difference with the load times. | Jen (38) | ||

Try, turning off AVG to see if that is causing the problem with slow loading. I have heard of Norton AV causing this so it is possible that AVG 7 now it all the additional features could cause the same thing. |
