311524 2005-01-07 01:42:00 Having downloaded AVG 7 bundled with Zone Alarm I found that e-mail Send/Receive was that slow, it was easier to go into XtraMail and read the mail.

Uninstalled AVG 7 but Zone Alarm still active.

What's a good Free Anti Virus software to replace what was an otherwise excellent AVG 6.

Win 98SE, IE 6.

Ps. Probably needs a faster PC than a 120mhz machine lol

311526 2005-01-07 02:03:00 Check that Zonealarm is not also checking your email. If so, disable this option and just use AVG. I use both on an Athlon 800, WinMe machine, 312Mb RAM and it is OK ito speed. So saying this, your machine may be a little slow to run AVG 7 at a reasonable speed. user (1404)
311527 2005-01-07 02:43:00 tvgts, user, thanks for your quick responses.

User. Yes I definately need a pc with more grunt!!. Yes I did notice Zone Alarms icon also flashing with incoming and outgoing mails, have switched it off and hope that will make a difference.

Still have AVG 7 tucked in Flash Get, so will re-open it from there.

Tvgts, I tried Avast, but uninstalled it for some reason!. May have been Ian Orchard's suggestion of using Firefox, (uninstalled that too) instead of IE6 and that's another story.

Printer's not working, the Start, Program, Canon menu has a reference to an Index line which looks like a virus reference. Fixed Outlook Express 6's hard error fault.

Looks like 2005 is going to be a good year for God knows what!.

Compliments of the season,

311530 2005-01-08 10:59:00 It seems to be a Xtra thing. I run Win 98SE, IE 6 & Outlook Express. I've loaded AVG 7 a few weeks ago. I also have ZoneAlarm running. My ISP is Paradise. No problems so far. d_wong (1373)
