311488 2005-01-07 01:16:00 Hi there people Microsoft have just released today a beta version of Anti spyware program you can check it out here Microsoft Anti Spyware (www.microsoft.com) Overdrive_5000 (4950)
311489 2005-01-07 02:26:00 nah, id still rather had spybot Prescott (11)
311490 2005-01-07 02:42:00 Yup I wouldnt bother. They'll most probably put activation in it when its the full version or get u to pay for it ! Speedy Gonzales (78)
311491 2005-01-07 02:52:00 I'd rather they worked on designing a system that wasnt quite as susceptible to this sorta thing to begin with! Chilling_Silence (9)
311492 2005-01-07 03:37:00 I downloaded and installed it and it found some spyware that both Ad-Aware and Spybot missed - so I'm withholding judgement for a while.

I read a report that said it is pretty buggy - but then it is a v1.0 Beta, so we should probably not expect much less.

311493 2005-01-07 04:30:00 It will be interesting to see whether this is made available free of charge once it is out of the beta stage. They haven't stated what sort of (if any) price will be involved.

I guess this sort of application being made available via MS (through their Protect your PC scheme) easily means that those users who are not so computer savvy can get protection. I see that MS purchased the technology from GAINT (www.giantcompany.com) and this is MS's press release (www.microsoft.com) over it.

311494 2005-01-07 04:41:00 I read the purchase news about a month ago, it still seems strage they would buy tech that ive never seen mentioned on any tech site or forum as the gear to use.

They should have purchased spybot and adawere, and given the creators a 10 billion handshake for saving there asses over the last 2 or 3 years.

311495 2005-01-07 05:07:00 You just have to look harder. Giant did very well in tests (Oct 2004) done by Eric L Howes who has been publishing security related stuff for ages. spywarewarrior.com PaulD (232)
