I think you mean logical drives. Optical Drives are CD-Rom/DVD (laser) devices. www.google.co.nz What operating system? Instructions will vary from OS to OS. |

| 311477 | 2005-01-07 01:57:00 | logical cheers!!! im running xp thanks for ya help If the drive doesn't have a windows install on it (is blank) - just go into Control Panel --> Administrative Somethingerother --> Computer Management --> Disk Management --> follow your nose. You can repartition and format from inside there (you will lose all data on said drive). If you are installing Windows onto the drive you can partition it during the install process - it prompts you for this and is reasonable intuitive. |

A quick search on google reveals a number of articles on how to partition a drive. Some of the programs are commercial, but some are free. Even fdisk can be used to partition. I use Partition Magic myself which is available here, www.powerquest.com |
