311466 2005-01-07 01:44:00 Start by noting the ambient temperature in the room.

If the case temp is reported as 12 degrees, then the room must be quite cold?
The temperature cannot be below the ambient temperature, and will fluctualte in accordance with it.

75 degrees sounds a bit hot.

Remember that the on board sensors and software used to interrogate them can be a long way off the true temperature though.

That's likely to be better in that it bypasses non compensated/incorrectly compensated Windows software, but it still is only as good as the matching of the thermocouple with the BIOS software. No calibration will have been done in the factory.

= It's still only very "approximate"

had a look though driver cd that came with mother board and
found a program called warp speeder utility
and it has a temp thingy on it and it says it is runing between 27C and 35C,
but then i try motherboard mointor which says 75C,
an then back to wrap speeder which now says 75C,
re start my computer an check the bios an it is 32C,

311470 2005-01-07 06:29:00 well looking at your other post:

its a celeron 2.4ghz 128 kb cache 478 pin

is it a celeron d perhaps? george got his to 3ghz or so, but if its a standard one you may get a result of approx 2.8ghz?

i suggest you read up on overclocking and the pros and cons,
do you have enough cooling?
