311205 2005-01-06 07:56:00 the thermaltake volcano 9 is a good heatsink for your buck ( $45 from ascent ) noone (22)
311206 2005-01-06 17:21:00 The thermaltake Volcano series are a pile of crap, many of them are over weight and far too big and offer poor cooling capabilities for their size.

Is your PC overheating? Do you wish to overclock? Upgrading the HSF for the sake of upgrading is stupid, if you dont want to overclock and the CPU isnt overheating then theres no reason to spend money on more cooling. Perhaps you could provide a lil more infomation on your situation?

311207 2005-01-07 01:03:00 Agree completely with Pete here. The main problems with the volcano series are poor quality build and very weak clips that do not provide sufficient downwards force.

And expecting "cheap and good" is absurd. If you want better cooling, expect to pay for it, because you'll find that a lot of "good and cheap" miracle hsf's perform no better, or even worse than the stock one.

When you want to get serious about aircooling, look at the likes of Alpha, Swiftech, Zalman or this irresistable ditty (forums.overclockers.co.nz)

it sounds like your problem is the case not the hsf. there is no point having a good hsf if the case airflow is crappy.
