I had this happen once when I elected to delete what I thought was just an old DELL folder in the root directory of my PC. Suddenly, my PC was no longer able to detect anything that was plugged into it - even things that I had used before! Fixing it was a nightmare because in my case, because I had/have a DELL. The DELL folder only listed a filename as a series of numbers, so when I turned to the system CD, I had no idea what needed to be installed. I just started picking different things and applying them! Like I said: A nightmare! If that didn't fix it, my next step was to reformat. |

I've had similar problems before and it's all to do with the steps you take when first using the camera. BEFORE you plug the camera in, install the software that came with it (the drivers), then plug the camera in and it should find the drivers and associate them with the camera. It shouldn't matter which plug you attach the camera to. Hope this helps. |

| 311437 | 2007-12-31 01:01:00 | I'm having the same problem and every forum has given the same advice that does not work... I can't get any plug and play devices to work... They work on my other xp machines but not this one. It always says it can't find the software for the device. If you call the device manufacturer or check their website they say there is no software to install and no software they can give you to use as a driver. I am about to throw in the towel and reformat the pc... Any last remaining thoughts out there? |
