311564 2005-01-07 05:05:00 Hi,
Please note that i'm new to linux. Im using the Fedora 3 Core.

I have just been reading on how to make subdirectory's (eg. www.domain.com/subdir), and it said that you use alias, so i found the apache conf file (I think, the one im editing is in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf). I have setup /test to goto /var/www/test (Using the code Alias /test "/var/www/test", and made it so that anybody can read the files in that dir, but when i goto tux (i've setup host names in windows on my other machine) it says that the document has been moved, with a link saying click here, and if i do nothing happen's.
Can anyone see anything wrong with my naming?, or any thing else? any help would be cool

Cheers
Daniel

311568 2005-01-07 05:44:00 Ok,
after a bit of playing around, i havn't got the alias working, but i can get sub-dirs going if the folder in the html (main dir) isn't a username.

311569 2005-01-07 06:42:00 In a terminal window as root, do the following:
mkdir /var/www/localhost/htdocs/test
echo "<html><head><title>Test</title></head><body>Test</body></html>" > /var/www/localhost/htdocs/test/index.html
chmod -R 555 /var/www/localhost/htdocs
