311403 2005-01-06 16:02:00 I hope that someone can help me.
Everytime I plug in a USB-related device into my computer, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts up. I then click "Install the software automatically" and after a few moments, it tells me that it "Cannot Install This Hardware". This message follows:
"The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."

I currently cannot transfer my pictures from my digital camera to my computer and I cannot transfer data to my USB Flash Disk. This is a very big problem which I hope can be resolved.

311404 2005-01-06 16:12:00 What OS are you using? If you're using XP you will need to have at least service pack 1 installed for native support.
Did you receive any drivers with the hardware? Try installing them before attaching the devices. :)

311405 2005-01-06 16:41:00 Well yes, I am using Windows XP. How do I know if I have Service Pack 1 or not? And what is native support? I received drivers on a CD-Rom but it is only for Windows 98 and it does not allow me to install since I have XP. johnleask69 (6774)
311406 2005-01-06 16:45:00 Go to the control panel - system. It will say on the first tab that you're using Windows XP then it should list the version and service pack underneath. 4bes (2848)
311407 2005-01-06 16:50:00 Okay I checked and it shows that I have Service Pack 2... Now what? :) johnleask69 (6774)
311408 2005-01-06 16:53:00 have a look in Device manager (controlpanel - system - hardware tab (top button))
Are there any yellow symbals next to anything?

311409 2005-01-06 17:06:00 Yes, there is a yellow question mark next to 'Other Devices'. I clicked the little plus sign and then there is another yellow question mark next to "USB Mass Storage Device". I currently have my USB Flash Disk connected to my computer. johnleask69 (6774)
311410 2005-01-06 17:21:00 Have you tried letting it search online for the drivers?
The only other thing I could suggest would be to try and update your m/board drivers.
Hopefully someone else here will be able to help. :)

Delete that entry and reboot. That MIGHT fix it.
