2005-01-06 11:12:00 | I have some video files on my PC. They are .avi files. Just out of know where every time I click on one of them I get this error: The instruction at "0x0354415b" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program Click on CANCEL to debug the program Now I have tried both options ( OK and CANCEL ), but none of them seem to work. I had these files in a directory which was like: /Example/Example/Example/Example/Example ,but then I changed it to: /Example/Example Thats because I saw another thread similiar to this saying this would fix the problem, but sadly enough it didn't. Now is there anyway of fixing this problem without reformatting my PC. I have about 24 files in this folder and 12 of them consist of .avi files. Thanks in Advance for any help. :)

2005-01-06 18:31:00 | What program are you trying to load them with?? Quicktime? WMP? Whatever program it is reinstall it. Or redownload it then reinstall it. See if that fixes it.

2005-01-06 19:08:00 | I can open up any player which plays .avi's and open up my files. Nothing goes wrong. The only time this error apears is when I click into the folder the .avi's are located and click on the .avi, then the error shows up. | Ultra_Immortal (6797) | |
2005-01-06 19:18:00 | What if u open it from the program?? Instead of clicking on the file in the folder/s?? Does it still crash?? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2005-01-07 00:51:00 | That indicates a problem . :D No programme can write to memory location 0x00000000 . You get an error message if you try . It's normally a pointer which hasn't been set to point at something . It can indicate bad or non-existent memory (at the place which should contain the real pointer information) . It can be just "not finished yet" software, or faulty data in a file used by the programme . It's unlikely to be the directory name (though stranger things have happened) and the alleged "cure" probably came about because the real problem disappered when the files were copied to the new place . Formatting the disk shouldn't fix it, except by accident . (Because you would need to reload all the programmes and data files) . Try just reinstalling the programme which gives the problem . Or the . avi files . Try a memory tester . You might be using memory which doesn't normally get used . Video files are big .

2005-01-07 05:43:00 | I can open any program which plays .avi files, and open up the .avi perfectly no error, but now I can't rename the files are anything, just watch them. The error only appears when I click on the .avi. | Ultra_Immortal (6797) | |
2005-01-08 00:27:00 | I wonder... What programme is the system trying to use when you click on a .avi file? Can you right click on a file, "Open With" and make sure it's the right one. :D

2006-04-15 17:27:00 | Hey guys, I am also having an exact same problem. I have a several folders with about 30+ avi files in, and as soon as I click the filename in windows explorer (My Documents), it gives an "Explorer.EXE - Application Error" and goes on about the memory thing. When I click OK, it closes the window and appears to reload explorer. If I try to open the avi through a Dialog Box, such as WMP File/open, it works fine. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help. | spork985 (6799) | |
