311864 2005-01-07 21:04:00 Have a Toshiba laptop with a matsh*ta uj-810 DVD Ram on it .

Having problems with this drive in that it doesn't burn CD's and it's record with DVD's is fairly hit and miss (you get a few coasters) using Nero 6 . 6 . 0 . 3

I've read a bit in Google and it seems there are a lot of problems with this drive, but not a lot of solutions I can find .

It apparently doesn't like InCD so I've kicked that into touch, and I've downloaded everything that seems likely to help from the Toshiba web site, and the Matsh*ta web site as well . Strangely enough, it seems to burn rewriteables just fine which might mean it is the media for DVD's (I gather these things are designed for use with one particular brand of DVD) .

Has anyone else had trouble with one of these drives because I'm starting to think it should be called mas****a .

311865 2005-01-07 21:07:00 Great, the forum edited out the brand name of the drive. Needless to say the brand is Matsh*ta and the missing letter is I. It is another name for Panasonic I gather. Twelvevolts (5457)
311866 2005-01-07 21:59:00 What version of Windows and how much ram??

A firmware update might fix something, if u can update it . And yup, you're right it's Panasonic . . . .
