| 311853 | 2005-01-08 16:26:00 | I think MS is in decline re it's monopoly. Being so huge it will take a very long time to fade away, but the process has started. Vince The British East India Company Came and went, As did the British South Africa Company. For Microsoft to disappear as a major corporate structure in the next 20 years will require some gross missmanagment. Microsoft's time of desktop dominance is probably allready coming to an end. They have NEVER had the dominance in the server markett and particularly web server markett they have claimed. What Misro$oft needs now are some real corporate administrators who know how to run a corporation outside the IT field. Imagine Bob Jones or Michale Fay or people with that kind of acumen, with Micro$oft's spending power. Would they be wasteing all that money on laweyers on S/W scraps I think not. The Problem for Micro$oft is that they only understand S/W and IT, they really dont understand that well, as they cant even fix their security issues or produce a secure O/S. They do have some effective allthough nasty marketting tactic's. If they can break their tunnell vision and be a force outside computers/media Music/Film and its transmissions as a corporate they could be around for centuries. Colliers, Jardine, Matherson, are into at least their third physicall century if not actuall over 300 years old. |
