311997 2005-01-08 09:32:00 i'm buying a 400w power suppy which is coming with case and i was wondering for a ASUS P5GD1 PRO motherboard. i still have to purchase this but i cant find the required power supply for the motherboard. however will it be a problem if the power supply's output exceeds the input requirement to the motherboard will it be a problem? :) fryup (3762)
311998 2005-01-08 09:47:00 No, the power supply only provides as much power as it is asked for by the demands of the computer. 400W should be enough for any normal computer.

Make sure it is a quality brand though, some cheap power supplies do not match their manufacturers claims.

Cheers

311999 2005-01-08 09:57:00 Whats the case/power supply brand ? A lot of chumya case maufacturers are quite creative with their power supply rating. :( the highlander (245)

:yuck:
Hairong case are made from reinforced aluminium foil that tems to flex in a gentle breeze and the power supply ---- well they are something of a lottery, sometimes they run reliably other times they just die, not spectacularly, just sort of die .
Treat your comp to something decent, would you like to drive a car with a tinny body and crappy motor ?
