311858 2005-01-07 20:59:00 I am planning to upgarde my agp card after a long time. Currently, I have nvidia tnt2 32MB directx 6 card. I want to upgrade to geforce fx 5200 128 DDr mb directx 9 card. I got a P4 1.6 pc with win xp pro, 256 SD ram mu mother borad is AGpP 4x. Will this card perfectly on my pc. other thing, I saw is some cards now comes with a heatsink instead of a fan. Is that better than a fan. Please help me decide. polo (6383)
311859 2005-01-07 21:38:00 You'll need to find out if the card you are planning to get is compatible with the AGP 4x specification, which I believe runs at a different voltage to AGP 8x.

Try taking a look at the manufacturers website for the technical specifications.

311860 2005-01-07 23:16:00 running a 8x graphics card in a 4x motherboard is fine, im doing that my self and had no problems :) of course it will only run at 4x.

that 5200 seems ok if you are not a real gamer, it is passive cooling and wont need a fan, but fans do tend to keep the card cooler, but depends on the type of graphics card you have

oh and what is your budget?

311863 2005-01-08 07:50:00 Hi Polo, I'm running a 5200 card with 128 mb.
Hope you are not planning on playing 3d games with it. It's quite a good card for my needs but 3d it's not.
