313070 2005-01-11 11:50:00 Hello
I am currently restoring a very old cyrix pc. It has win98 lite installed. The computer has an onboard SiS chip with 4 Mb ram (shared). There was also a voodoo2 pci graphics card installed but no installation disk. I found drivers for the Voodoo 2 card off the net, which I installed. The card appears in the device manager and when booting up, however, in display properties there is no sign of the voodoo2 options/settings, only those for the sis graphics.
How do I get the more powerful voodoo card to handle the graphics as I could not find anywhere to disable the onboard graphics (is it in BIOS, if so what option?).
Cheers

313071 2005-01-11 12:24:00 if it has 4 meg onboard its likely it is an sis agp chipset
In the bios should be the option under integrated devices or similar to boot from pci first instead of agp
give it a try

313073 2005-01-11 19:54:00 if i remeber correctly the voodoo2 is a 3d only card. it should have a lead so it connects to the onboard graphics. you need both running. tweak'e (69)

Yeah your right i have my head up my a$$
i was thinking of the agp voodoo card :o
But will a dedicated 3d card (voodoo)accelerate an agp chipset ?

313075 2005-01-12 07:14:00 Yes
It does have a lead connected from the voodoo card to the monitor output of the on board graphics.

I have since learned that there is no option to disable it in BIOS, and as it was running fine (voodoo card was drawing 48 Mb ram from the system) before the format so onboard was obviously not disabled.

My question is: How do I get the voodoo2 card to do its job? (it is currently not using any of the ram), and therefore, none of the voodoo settings are available to use :(

Cheers

313076 2005-01-12 08:22:00 its been a long time since i've used one but i think once you have the drivers (including the voodoo apps) it should be all go. voodoo2 dosn't use the system ram like the onboard does. tweak'e (69)
