| 313040 | 2005-01-11 10:56:00 | hi folks.. my pc motherboard has 2 ide onboard controllers, and i run a cd writer a dvd writer and 2 HDD's. i want to add an extra HDD which means i have to buy a pci card as per above. now whats the performance like if i get a a new HDD (will be used for data storage only) and run it off one of these cards.. will the performance (speed of file access) be the same as if it were running an IDE on the motherboard? or is the speed limited by the speed of the pci bus(which i dont have any idea of what the speed is)? the motherboard supports ata100/133, and currently have 2 HDD's ata100 i run win xp pro, motherboard is gigabyte gn400-l . can someone please educate me :-) cheers Term X |
