| 312877 | 2005-01-11 01:24:00 | We recently upgraded to Xtra Jetstream Everyday, with a 1G limit per month. We are rapidly heading to exceed this limit and face dialup speeds for 2 weeks, during a period when several people have to use internet for work and study - disaster impending. I've arranged an upgrade to the 10G Xtra Plus plan, but this won't be implemented until our billing date, 26/12. I phoned the help desk, and have been told I can't upgrade earlier. I also asked about terminating our current plan, which I realise will cost us, and starting a new plan early. I was told they couldn't do this "because the computer can't do it". Now my question is - has anyone in the past been able to get around this problem, terminate their connection and arrange another one early? Any advice appreciated, thanks! | annie (6010) | ||

| 312879 | 2005-01-11 06:54:00 | What a lie. Who are you with. I'm with Xtra and previously when they swapped me to a different plan, which was not what I wanted, they changed it after about 1 or 2 days and compensated me in money for it. The joys of being with a 'monopoly' :p | ~sy~ (95) | ||

The joys of being with a 'monopoly' :p Your case is different, it sounds as if there was a mistake with the plan you were supposed to be on and they fixed it for you. When you request a change in a Jetstream plan this is done by Telecom not Xtra and they have a policy of doing this on your next billing date which is fair enough to ensure the the invoicing change goes smoothly. This is standard for most ISP's even with dialup connection plan changes. |

If they don't enforce people seeing out a month on their plan they'd have people ringing up every 5 minutes chopping and changing plans to get around excess charges or speed restrictions etc. Nothing you can do (or should be able to do). |

| 312886 | 2005-01-13 07:46:00 | Annie same here got to limit in 2 weeks, same plan 1G. Funny thing is is the speed hasnt dropped at all. I wonder if they are doing the old NZPO trick (now nzpost telecom) where they said pay your television liscence there are detector vans in your area now. There never were any any detector vans but it tricked the idiots. Next month I will stop down loading porn and see if I can get through the month with 1G. tedheath :o |
