312701 2005-01-10 07:27:00 Hello all,

I have recently loaded Medal of Honor and was looking forward to playing it, but to no avail.

I am running NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 and the game opens with a statement saying that my internal card doesnt support DirectX 8.1. Im actually using DirectX 9.0C so Im a bit puzzled how to get the game going.

Any suggestions would be great.

312702 2005-01-10 07:49:00 Yeah you may be using DX9c but your card may not support DX9c it is possibly running the DX8 engine only.

You will probaly need a DX9c compatible card beofre you can get the game to work.

Which Medal of Honour are you playing?

What are you other specs?

cheers

not entirely true chiefnz, i played MOHAA using intergrated graphics, i had it running on 1024*768 and i had directx 9 and it was pretty good so im sure you can play it using the graphics card you have, are you using the latest graphics drivers? maybe its possible to install direct x 8.1 and see if that is the problem,

it would be usefull for you to tell us your system spec's and what operating system you are using, if you are unsure on your system spec's, download everest here (www.lavalys.com), this tells you everything about your computer :)

312704 2005-01-10 08:38:00 1 . List your system spec's .
(whats the stuff in your computer case that makes it go)

2 . Have you got the latest graphic card drives from Nvidia?
(make sure you get the right ones for your operating system,xp etc, etc)

3 . If you have some spare money get a better graphics card . Your card will struggle to work properly on new games AAA+ rating ones etc .
(only if your really into gaming)(were on geforce 6 now!)6600gt rocks, a mate has one!I just bought a 6800! Now my cpu is my bottleneck,so will go 939 on pay day, along with a new motherboard nforce 3 ultra!

4 . Go into the options on the game for the video settings and turn everything down low (lowest settings),play the game if it goes ok go back to it and raise one thing at a time, play game and repeat until it will not play any better at the settings . :badpc:

5 . Good luck .

312705 2005-01-10 08:48:00 memphis, he cant even get into the game, it should go with the hardware he has Prescott (11)
312706 2005-01-10 08:53:00 Well my friend with a mx-420 tells me that it is a directx 7 card, so if the game requires a directx 8.1 card then it will not run on the mx420.

however if you are not into hardcore gaming then for around $180-$200 you can get a reasonably competent card (~9600 pro) that will do you fine.

312707 2005-01-10 09:07:00 You do not need a card that can render dx9 effects to run a dx9 game,It just ignores the dx9 instructions .

This gane should run fine on that hardware .

Look at the drivers and update .

Very few games(about 6 that i know of) require a dx9 compliant card,just a dx9 compatable card .

The msg will self destruct in 15 minutes .

312708 2005-01-10 09:12:00 yes but if the game is informing him that it requires at least a directx 8.1 compatible video card then obviously it is not going work on a video card that is only directx 7 compliant. lagbort (5041)
