312587 2005-01-09 21:40:00 I'm looking at buying a new answer phone/fax combo.A few posts have made comments about not buying one of those all-in-one units,ie,printer, scanner, fax, etc. So any comments on a good answer/fax setup, either plain paper or fax paper.Have been using a Panasonic KX-F2710 for a few years with no problems.Thanks.
Sorry, this was meant to be in the OT section.

312588 2005-01-09 23:19:00 If u have XP, and a fax/data/voice modem u could use its built in fax program. Or Winfax.

Or try a shareware program that can deal with caller id/fax/voice.... A lot cheaper than buying something with everything in it.

The only thing is, the pc would have to stay on to receive whatever.

That solution would be OK for casual use of faxing but not really suitable for a business, unfortunately.

312590 2005-01-10 00:04:00 And why not. Its ok if u have a spare phoneline. And dont mind leaving the system on. U can send/receive what else do u need?

All u need is a scanner scan whatever, U can scan from Winfax and its gone.

312593 2005-01-10 02:13:00 I got a Sharp FOA650 fax/answer machine a few months ago, I think from Warehouse Stat for about $179.00 (?)

Plain paper
Digital a/machine

Nice and compact
Easy to use
Easy to replace fax rolls... I had a brother (fax machine I mean)and they were a pain to replace!
