312574 2005-01-09 21:17:00 As you may have heard im planning to buy a Radeon 9600xt , yet yesterday while huntung around price spy i found something that i need to clear up

I am planning to get the gigabyte 9600xt with a 500mhz core and 600mhz memory , and then overclock this , i found a power color version of the 9600xt which has a memory of 685mhz and other cards have other speeds . what i am wondering is are these cards overcloked to this level or are they just like that and therefore allowing me to overclock it more

Well you have scattered a few threads about :D

Some manufacturers have already pushed the chipset limits. You most likely won't get much more out of them and may pay a premium price. Overclocking only makes sense when you find a basic product priced accordingly that has lots of potential.

312577 2005-01-10 03:24:00 I agree with noone, the card is only clocking 40mhz more than a "standard" 9600XT. Personally I wouldn't waste my $$ on this card. Shop around some more and see if you can get a better card for the same price or slightly more. As I recommended to you before try and get your hands on a 9800 Pro or upwards. The 9600XT is a good card but at it's best was a mid range budget board. I have one and even though I"m quite happy with the performance I'd really want to get my hands on something a bit more gruntier.

cheers
